Mueang Chiang Mai District Chiang Mai Province The name of Wat Pha Lat comes from the word Pha Loet because landowners followed elephants along the streams and waterfalls. Then many people slipped and fell. Some say that elephants are slippery too. When the temple was established, it was named after the waterfall. The name of the temple appears in legendary documents and chronicles. It has a history with Phra That Doi Suthep. The temple was built in the period of Kruba Srivichai by Burmese craftsmen. The ancient base is on the southeastern side of the pagoda.
